It’s Lambing Season!

2024 Lambing season is now officially underway at Green Heart Farm.

Mango, our first lamb of the 2024 lambing season arrived last week, weighing in at just over 9 pounds.  His dam is one of our registered Scottish Blackface ewes and his Sire is one of our registered Icelandic rams born on the farm last season.  We love this cross for hybrid vigor, beautiful long fleece, superb parasite resistance on pasture, and great tasting lamb!!  An all around win!

Just a few days after Mango landed, we welcomed twin lambs on Easter morning!  Our Scottish Blackface/Icelandic cross ewe, Rosemary, is an amazing sheep and she gave birth to these very large twins (one of which was over 11 pounds!) like a rock star!

We have 16 more ewes to go this season!  We will be welcoming purebred Icelandic, purebred Gotland, and Scottish Blackface/Icelandic crosses this season. The Gotland Sheep are brand new to our farm and this is our first season lambing with these maiden ewes.

We can't wait to share the rest of lambing season with you....do stay tuned!
